I went with Brian the other day to the media opening of Tsujita Killer Noodles in Sawtelle. We tried two types of Dan Dan noodle, one with soup and one without. We got levels two and three which ended up being very spicy- normally I don’t expect Japanese food to be too spicy but at this restaurant they are definitely not kidding about the “killer” spice levels!
The Dan Dan noodles were delicious and immediately threw me back to past summers in Shanghai. Shanghai has the best noodles and I am a huge noodle lover 🙂 Here’s an old post of street food pictures that I took in Shanghai if you want to make yourself hungry.
A little note from Tsujita, himself:
“As I was thinking of new ideas on other cuisines I can craft, I noticed that there is a tendency for cooking to follow a somewhat sweeter style due to trends in this generation. Although I could go with the flow just as easily, I felt that trends are similar to parents telling their children what to do. Because of this, I decided to differentiate myself and go against the flow. It was then that I decided to make spicy Dan Dan Noodles. With the help of the Tsujita team in Tokyo, we created an original Tsujita recipe by brainstorming ideas and going through trial and error, as well as consulting a Chinese Iron Chef.
The Tsujita team loves our customers with all our hearts and I would love to introduce this Tsujita Original Dan Dan Noodle recipe to you in Los Angeles, CA. I guarantee these noodles will provide you with a “killer” experience!”
The Grand Opening of Killer Noodle is on Monday, October 16th at 11am. First 300 people get free noodles!
