Hi there! Today we’re discussing an important aspect of content creation…which is how to pick the best platform for your content! This is an important piece of the picture because you’ll be spending a lot of time on your content, so we want to make sure it’s on a platform that can bring out it’s best and get it to the most relevant audience. I’ll go over some different platform options in the rest of this post, and you can check out the video for a few more ideas on how to narrow down a platform for posting!
Pinterest: This is good platform if you’re really into aesthetics, you love filtering pictures, you love collecting pictures, etc. Pinterest is also a great platform if you’re a blogger! It’s a great visual platform for sharing ideas that is a little more low-key and less socially driven than some of these other platforms. The last awesome thing is that you can pin other people’s content too.
Twitter: This is good if you’re really funny, you get a lot of ideas or you have a lot of interesting opinions about the status quo. If you have a lot of cool friends, or you like meeting people and connecting to like-minded people, Twitter is a good way to go about it. Twitter can be a great platform to speak (or tweet candidly) and share an authentic view of your personality or brand.
Facebook: Private page or Facebook groups is really good for building a community. You can also have a public page where you can directly post photos, videos, and articles. Facebook is good if you’re trying to reach a lot of different people.
Youtube: Youtube is great platform to create on if you love watching Youtube videos, and if you want to do longform content where you can really engage with people and provide value. If there’s something that you want to demonstrate (a skill, a hobby, tutorials, etc.), video can be a great content method to share these skills. If you’re a personal brand looking to really connect with viewers, it can be great too!
Instagram: If you love being in photos, if you love taking photos…if you love fashion, beauty, fitness, lifestyle, food, traveling, art, these are popular niches for Instagram. If you like a relatively simple process, Instagram is a good way to go, there isn’t a ton of background work that you need to do. However, consistency will still be important. If you’re trying to be a micro-influencer, or growing and engaging with a small, specific community, Instagram is also a good way to go because of all the micro hashtags. Instagram is also a great platform if you want to work with and interact with brands and places.
Blog: If you like writing informative and relevant topics, blogging is an awesome way to go. If you are good at different things and can translate that into informative posts, definitely look into having a blog as a way to share your content. Blogging is a solid blend of writing, communication, and visual elements. If you grew up loving magazines, if you’ve dreamed of being an editor, a blog could be a great way to do and I think of it like the modern magazine.
Tiktok: If you like video, but more short-form. If you like snappy, entertaining, or eye-catching content. If you’re funny, quirky, creative, want to share pieces of your daily life- Tiktok is a platform up on the rise that’s a great way to start your content creation.
Hopefully, you found some clarity in this platform breakdown. A few more other things to consider are what kind of platform you think your target audience would frequent, what format and length of content you personally like, and which platforms you already like and use.
Thanks for reading and hope this helped!
