Ano Hana “Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai”

I’m not a huge anime watcher, (I mostly read manga) but the previous week I decided to look around for an anime to watch. I ended up deciding to watch Ano Hana, which I’ve been wanting to check out since Fanime last year!

I’m so happy I finally got around to it!!! This anime is amazing, especially if you’re an angst, tearjerker freak like me.

The plot is simple but at the same time very touching. I think what makes the anime really great is the artwork and deep character development achieved through a matter of only 11 episodes! (The shortness of the anime is also great for people who have very low attention spans like myself.) Animes with 100+ episodes just kill me. Even if I love it, I can at most get to only episode 30 or so. #adhdproblems

Ano Hana (without giving away too much) is about a friendship between 6 people, and of course between these six people, there are love triangles, jealousy and whatnot. One of the friends,Menma, dies (you figure this out in the first episode, don’t worry) and the other friends each feel as if they played a huge part in the accident, leading them all to be conflicted with guilt. They grow apart, but years later, Menma’s ghost appears to Jintan, and he reunites their friends. There are still a lot of problems the group have to deal with, and they all work together to help free Menmas ghost.

That’s pretty much the plot of the anime! It’s very sad in some parts, and also has a decent amount of romance in it.

I really like the chemistry between Menma and Jintan. Some of the interactions between them made me cry a lot. I would say more, but I really don’t want to spoil this great anime for those who haven’t watched it yet!

(On a random note, I really liked one of the girl’s fashion sense. Her nickname is Anaru, and her style is girly and cute. I have a few shirts that look like hers! )

But anyway, it really is a cute and thoughtful anime. If you like these kinds of stories, you should definitely check it out. (Accompanied by a box of tissues.)

Ayumi Hamasaki Inspired Makeup !

Ayumi Hamasaki is famous Japanese singer and idol, whose makeup is natural with a gyaru edge to it. My dad and I have always been big fans of her, and I’ve grown up listening to her music.

I decided to do a take on her makeup, and the results were okay. I don’t look anything like Ayumi, but it was fun nonetheless.

SF Trip: Day 2!

On the second day, we checked out of our hotel room and headed towards Pier 33. (Prescott is the hotel we stayed at, right on the edge of Union Square.)

We bought tickets for a trip to Alcatraz! I’ve been to San Francisco countless times, but never on the island of Alcatraz, so this was pretty exciting. We boarded the ferry at 11:45 am, and stayed on the island for a few hours. My parents wanted me to listen to the audio tour, which was actually really interesting. It was really cold outside, and really windy, but I was wearing my new Superdry jacket and I love it!!
The view around the island was really beautiful, I was so amazed that the prison where the most infamous criminals stayed was so beautiful.

Me and my friend Sian left the island to meet up with her friends from USC. They all wanted to meet up in San Francisco and hang out over their winter break, and I was pretty excited to meet them!

We drove to Union Square and ended up doing more shopping! Haha, I think 90% of our trip was spent at downtown San Francisco.

The huge Christmas tree was up on the plaza, and we took some pictures there, and by the hearts as well. I really like how the pictures turned out (they were taken with Instagram on one of the guys phones.)

For dinner, we ate Italian food. There was really yummy pizza with brietta and pesto and arugula. We also ordered a kalamari pasta which was so good.

Sians friends were really nice and fun to hang out with 🙂
They drove us home to Palo Alto, and our parents returned an hour or so later.

It was a really fun, relaxing two day trip!
