Meet Apple ♥

I’m mad in love with my new puppy.
She’s currently in her kennel sleeping away. (Puppies need up to 18 hours of sleep daily!!! How cute is that? )

So happy to be holding this precious baby on my arms!!!

The newest member of the Gong family’s name is Apple! She’s an adorable 9 week old white puppy! Our whole family loves her to death even with the short amount of time we’ve known her.

I’ve been quite busy lately, sorry for the lack of posts. I’ll be working harder these days to get some fun and interesting posts up! Thanks for your patience, and hope everyones having a great summer!

Revamping my Room for summer!

Tomorrow is my math final! And with that last test, albeit stressful, comes the end of my busy sophomore year at Gunn High school.

There’s a great list of things I want to do over summer, and revamping and reorganizing my room is near the top of that list. I love my room, and I love having that personal space where I can relax, admire all my posters and just be on my comfy bed for hours on end. I still have room for improvement. Hahaha, anyone notice the pun? (Okay, I’ll stop.)

A few things I want to do to my room is update my DIY vanity table, fill up an empty corner, and clean up my closet. A lot of my friends are also doing a lot of fun things to their room this summer, so I thought it’d be nice to do a blog post on room inspiration and ideas.

What’s essential in a nice room is good storage, somewhere to relax, and personalization!

Good storage is obviously super important because it’ll bring a lot more space to your room. This is something I need to work on harder, because I tend to be a very very messy person, especially when I’m stressed. I have great shelves in my room, so I’ll be out and around looking for boxes and other miscellaneous storage units.

Ikea is a great place to go for affordable storage. Here are links to some items I’m considering for my room.

The next important thing is comfortable seating, especially if you love to read, write, or just play around on your laptop. I have an empty corner in my room that I’ve been wanting to fill with some kind of lounge chair for a long time. This summer I’m going to finally get around to it.

I love the lounge seating from Pottery Barn teens. However, this store is on the more expensive side. Some great seating ideas are beanbags, soft armchairs, and even stacks of nice pillows.

Another thing that really brings a room together is personalization. You spend a lot of time in your room, so you might as well grow to love it!! I love to put posters all over my walls, (a lot more have gone up recently.) There are so many easy ways to personalize your room that are both adorable and completely affordable.

Okay.
So the day has FINALLY come.
The Gong family is getting a puppy!!!!!

More details later, when finals cram weekend is over. 🙂
Here is a picture. Apple is being shipped over from Oklahoma and we’re picking her up from the airport on Friday!!!!!

California State Summer School of the Arts!

I hope everyone’s having a lovely Tuesday 🙂
A few months ago, I applied to two programs of CSSSA (California State Summer School of the Arts).
I applied for Creative Writing as my first choice, but also applied for Visual Arts just in case.

A few weeks ago I got my acceptance packet back!! To both programs!! I was and still am extremely excited and have high hopes for the writing program. Hopefully, over four weeks of intensive writing training, I will become a much better writer.

I decided to post my application pieces for the Visual Art program.
The prompts this year were:

Choose any issue that interests you (something personal, political or social). Use whatever materials, techniques and processes work best to express your views on the chosen issue. Provide an explanation of the work on a separate sheet of paper.

In this assignment we are looking for your ability to communicate a personal view on a particular issue through a work of art.

Create an original art piece that reflects who you are. Use appropriate materials and techniques to interpret your idea.

In this assignment, we will look at how you creatively interpret the problem, and how you make artistic choices.
Choose a piece of your artwork that you feel best demonstrates your technical skill and understanding of your favorite medium.

In this assignment, we want to see that you have developed the skills needed to succeed in this advanced program.

So yea, those were the three pieces I sent in! I’m more self conscious of my writing, so I’m not going to post the pieces I sent in for that….but if you really want to read some, feel free to contact me personally about them!!

I know I’m gonna meet some hella sick people at camp, excited for that!!!
