Ally Gong

Hi guys! I know I’ve been really bad lately with the updates, but yesterday I had a great promo shoot with Monster Products! It was a 10 hour shoot, but it paid well and it was all in all a great experience! I decided to do a blog post on it and give you guys a sneak peek of what’s coming up! They’re not done with the final video yet, but when it’s up I will post about it right away!

The client was Monster products, which specializes in sound equipment. The video promotion shoot I did was for their new line of headphones called “Pearl.”

Here are some random shots of me in set that my mom took on her phone. Since we were in Brisbane, she just decided to stay with me and play bridge on her laptop since driving back and forth was a hassle. I was happy to have her company and she also took some photos for me so I could share with you wonderful readers! (The quality is not amazing, but hope you can still get an overall idea of the experience!) The actual video quality was superb though! I don’t think I’ve ever been filmed in such high quality with such awesome lighting before!

The set was really pretty! There was a wall made up of pearl colored balloons, and there were also a ton of pearl balloons of different sizes on the floor. The wall of the set was a really cute pink. I loved it! There was also a pearl curtain, but I’m not sure if it ended up getting used. Throughout a lot of our shots, there were people in the back throwing balloons everywhere. We had a lot of cuts because me and the other two models kept getting hit by balloons! It was pretty funny.

Here’s a photo of me and the wardrobe and makeup artists! They did a great job and were super helpful during shootings, constantly giving us advice and reminders.

Here’s a photo of me and Diana! The producer wanted us to demonstrate how outside noise resistant these headphones were. I had to pretend to scream in her ear through a magnifying glass, and they got a really cool shot of my magnified lips through it on camera!

The whole production was really fun, and we played a ton of upbeat music on speakers to get us pumped up and looking as excited as we could! My mouth hurt from smiling so much!

During breaks while the cameramen were preparing each shot, I did a lot of journaling and reading. I think I’ll be doing more book reviews in the future, because I have so much to say about each book I read.

It was so nice meeting and getting to know the wardrobe, makeup, and other talents on set! It was a very humbling experience. Hopefully when I’m in Shanghai this summer I’ll have more time to take on similar gigs! (Not sure if my Chinese is up to par at this point, but hopefully I won’t actually have to talk in the shots.)

The image director was such a nice lady! She told the producer to make sure that we brought our headphones home! So I got to take home the headphones that I shot with. I don’t think they’re on the market yet, but I’ll do a premature shout out and say that the sound quality is AMAZING, as well as the outside noise reduction. I didn’t even hear my mom come into my room when I was watching my drama! (So it’s got it’s pros and cons haha 🙂

Again, when the video comes out, I’ll be sure to post it! From the playbacks I saw on set, it looks really really good and I’m super excited to see how it turns out! (It’s very short though, which just goes to show how much effort goes behind even a minute of film.) I think the final product will be a few minutes at most, even though we spent 10 hours on set!
