Visited the Dior exhibition today in the dongdaemun design plaza today. It was a totally beautiful and exhilarating experience. To avoid pretenses, I wouldn’t label myself a museum lover. Going to an art exhibition or museum definitely wouldn’t be the first idea to cross my mind on a given free day. However, I can sincerely say that I’ve never been disappointed in any museum or exhibition visit in these past few years, especially those related to art or fashion. I think art is innately appealing, it is so sensory, human, raw ; it always invokes a stir from within. Maybe it’s triggered by enormous, deafening respect, maybe it’s inspiration- most likely a congregation of both.
The exhibition used mixed media to it’s advantage. The music and sound effects, display materials (mirrors, led lights, and holographic surfaces), and videos did an amazing job in enhancing the varied textures and styles of the Dior dresses.
The dongdaemun design plaza was quite impressive as well. It’s quite the stellar example of new urbanism/contemporary modern architecture. I unfortunately didn’t get a +picture of the plaza itself, but a quick search on google will give you a good idea. You can also see some of the outdoor stairs in my photos.
Anyway, I was right to get dressed up for this exhibition. (It’s half the fun!) Hope you like this white dress! I purchased it recently and I love it. I even pulled out some heels but was an awkward head taller than everyone else. Oh well, what’s new about Asia…
I am so wracked with guilt for my lack of posts lately. A lot of shifting around from city to city, country to country, and wifi port to wifi port has made it so hard for me to keep up with my instagram even, not to mention my blog. I’ve also been maintaining a consistent travel diary which records every day of my trip, so that has been fighting for my attention as well. There will be more Korea updates coming up though… stay tuned, stay fabulous.
