If there’s one place I’m always down to go to, it’s the city. I love being in the city, most big metropolitan downtowns. I really believe that places like the city can fuel my dreams, and the dreams of many people. I love to see the store fronts of high end designers, I love the display of the clothing and the art and the glamour that the scene encompasses. I don’t know my exact relation to these kinds of window displayed scenes, but they’re inspiring just the same. Steps sound louder and stronger against the cement, buildings are taller and bigger, the potential feels like a blanket around you.
What I’ve realized over the years though is my general preference towards asian cities, like Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei. The main reason would just be that because it’s more homogenous in those cities, the downtowns feels a little more contained, and safer. I believe that within a race, there is generally a stronger feeling of kinship and tolerance, which is why I get a more overall feeling of safeness in asian cities, as opposed to big cities in the states like New York and San Francisco. But both definitely give off very different vibes. I love the melting pot, huge and even at times, impassive, feel of American cities. It’s all just observations and details I’ve noticed while traveling that I wanted to share. Do you readers have a favorite city? Or maybe one you’ve always anted to visit?
