Ganguro
What is “Ganguro”?
Ganguro is Black Face in Japanese (LOL). IF you’ve never heard about this look or seen this look, you’ll probably be VERY surprised. It’s almost the opposite of Ulzzang, and it’s all about SUPER DARK TANS, often blonde hair, brightly colored outfits, platform shoes, and white or black eyeliner and lipstick.
My thoughts on Ganguro Style:
Okay, I know there are also a lot of Ganguro haters out there, and they think Ganguro girls are HIDEOUS and MONSTROUS or whatever, but AGAIN, its FASHION!!
I think it’s really bold, rebelliious and out there, and I like it! 🙂
Some of the stuff we see on runways is hideous too okay? But again, it’s fashion and we like it!
I would actually love to try to pull of this look if I’m ever in Japan, I’ve seen it a few times on the streets, and again, it’s really bold and different! I like it. I think it’s fun.
I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if some people wouldn’t date these girls, but that doesn’t mean you can’t admire them right?
I’ll keep my eye out for 5 inch bright platforms the next time I go shopping 😉
