Hey lovely readers! Welcome to Xintiandi, one of my favorite window shop and lounge districts in Shanghai! This district incorporates the old shikumen style alleys and buildings of Shanghai with the newly refurnished shiny interiors, allowing shoppers to get a taste of both the old and the new. Xintiandi, (“New Heaven and Earth”) is the meeting point of past and future Shanghai.
I am wearing a dress from eshakti, which I adore! It’s definitely going to be a wardrobe staple for nights out in the future. Eshakti had a really innovative design and sizing process, which I got the chance to try out-and completely loved! I had a hard time picking between all their different dress styles. I am modeling their Virginia Dress.
You can very easily pick your specific measurements for different body parts, and are offered a ton of flexibility in terms of the dress design too! (What kind of sleeve you want, how long you want the dress to be, pocket options etc. etc.) It was a very cool ordering experience, and I got the perfect dress after entering all my style and size preferences 😀 Eshakti is definitely a good site to visit if you want to find a nicely fitted dress for a variety of occasions.
Take metro line 1 or line 10, and you’ll find yourself within this affluent neighborhood. There is a small plaza with a variety of cafes and bars, ranging from Starbucks and Haagen Dazs (daytime fun) to TMSK and Rendezvous (nighttime fun.) This is part of North Block, and is full of restaurants and cafes that offer beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. Below are two pictures I took while visiting (one is a photo of my surroundings, one is a photo of a quick sketch I did in my small travel memo-book.)
Finish your meal or lovely dessert. Then, go down towards the South Block of Xintiandi, and you’ll find the Xintiandi Style mall, full of Chinese designers ready to start a new era of fashion in China. I was photographed outside this mall by a street style photographer with awesome purple hair!
The surroudings streets of Xintiandi consist of family-run indie coffee shops, expensive modern bars, and super artistic boutiques. There are trees and beautiful lights and architectural structures that light up at night.
The colors of my outfit in this post reminded me of Kate Spades new line designed after their trip to Shanghai. A few days after I decided I wanted to blog about Shanghai during September, they came out with a new line called “Shine in Shanghai.” I was so amazed and encouraged by their new products.
Here is a photo of some of their promo pics mixed with some more of my outfit photos.
Remember, Xintiandi is a must visit if you want to receive a quiet and elegant taste of Shanghai, while lounging on comfortable trendy seating and enjoying an afternoon drink. This is a great place to relax but also observe surroundings and get a hint of the refined lifestyle of upscale Shanghai.
